Dorothy "Nanny" Pinder

Yesterday, my grandmother passed away. I can't hide the grief I am feeling, even knowing the long and wonderful life she enjoyed. Selfishly, I feel lost knowing my last grandparent has passed on and that hits me deep, especially as close as I was to all my grandparents.

Nanny always took pride in the relationship she had with her grandchildren. I personally will never forget all the weekends and holidays I spend with her and Grandpa. They were the most generous people I could ever know. They really taught me giving, understanding, and gratitude towards family, friends and strangers. One of my favorite memories is when Nanny taught me her Chicken Cordon Bleu recipe to make during my first year of French in JH. She loved to cook and cook a lot for the family...we loved those lumpy mashed potatoes!

I truly will miss our conversations, as often as we could, and the great visits with her and the boys. I will miss seeing her this summer when we visit NY.

I love you and hope you are with me everyday Nanny.

Remember this posting on your birthday less than a year ago...2008

I know how you feel, I lost my last Grandma in November. I still tear up when I remember all the great card games we had with her. Your boys are lucky to have known your "Nanny" they will always remember the good times with her. Not a lot of people get to know their Great-Grandparents. You are in my thoughts :)
