Brownies by Chandler

In continuing with his culinary interests, Chandler checked out a brownie recipe book from the school's library.
After looking over all the recipes, he decided on the My Favorite Fudgy Brownie. I set out all the ingredients for him. He did an awesome job following the recipe, which included infusing melted chocolate with butter, beating eggs and sugar into a soft peaked whipped cream, and folding in sifted flour.
He, honestly, shared it was hard work and he didn't expect it to take so long. I pointed out that making baked goods from scratch is hard work but SO worth the time and effort.
Although, we couldn't wait the "six hours before cutting", they were by far the best brownies we have ever tasted!
We all sat together at the table mmmmm'ing and ahhhh'ing over his delicious creation topped with melting vanilla ice cream.
Dad: Wow, Chandler this brownie is so good.
Henry: It is good but I don't like nuts so I'm picking them out.
Mom: Great job Chandler, worth every WW point!
Chandler: I'll give $10 to the first person to find the booger!
Way to finish on a "high note" Chandler!
At least he didn't "flag" the book!

Excerpts from a Cat's Diary...
Day 983 of my captivity...

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets.

Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards.

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.

The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now...

Loving Spring

I am just loving Spring in Oregon. The past few days, we have had 70 degree temps. The whole town was either walking about or doing yard work. My uniform for three days was jeans, t-shirt and a cap. I was able to mow, weed, plant, transplant, rake, remove tree limbs, etc. It was awesome to be outside in the gorgeous sun.

When it was all done, I relaxed in the backyard under an apple tree and drank a beer. It just doesn't get much better.
The only thing missing...my wonderful husband who brought me to this wonderful life. Hope you read this Honey.

Do you Voo-Doo?

Another temptation for the Lang Family. We hope you can make it this summer. We promise a visit to VooDooDoughnut.
PS I did not partake in the doughnut eating; Wade took the boys. Maybe I would if we all went!
